If it is charity, it must be Salman Khan. Sallu's proved that his heart is bigger than his biceps. Whether it is donating bicycles in Wai, near Panchgani, or bone marrow donation for cancer-stricken kids, the star believes in give and let live.
It is no surprise then that filmmaker Hansal Mehta hopes that Sallu would live up to his large-hearted reputation when he asks the star for help.
Says Hansal, "I think Salman is a noble soul. Even though I don't know him personally, I am trying to reach out to him for supportfor my cause -- an orphanage for boys and it is called Kamshet English School.
It has around 50 destitute boys, mostly from Kargil. The building was devastated by a freak accident four years ago and is in a bad condition. Along with my wife and some friends, I have been helping them by improving their living conditions."
Good cause
A source close to Hansal says that he thought of Salman because the actor is always forthcoming when it comes to contributing for good causes. "Hansal wants Salman's help in whichever way possible. He feels that the kids will also enjoy meeting him. Hansal is also trying to approach other celebrities who can help in any manner."
Heal the world
The Kamshet English School and Boarding Orphanage provides shelter and education to over 50 destitute children from remote war zones of northern India. The orphanage was wrecked by a freak accident nearly four years ago.
Lack of funds and resources led to unhygenic living conditions. Thanks to the efforts by volunteers there is a vast improvement in the living conditions and educational facilities for children.
