Sonu Niigaam's latest hairdo has created more waves and bangs everywhere than what his stylist would have ever given him. The singer was spotted at an outing recently with his curly mop of hair tied in two ponytails with a severe parting along with his facial fuzz.
From being called a 'school girl with a beard' to a 'poodle' to 'having a mid-life crisis' to 'what was he thinking?' the blogosphere has been abuzz with comments about his mane.
The singer, who loves to experiment with his looks, has taken a strong exception to it. He feels in India, people still don't realise that musicians are a crazy, zany lot who can do anything and it becomes a style statement. The Kal Ho Naa Ho singer also points out that actors can get away with their eccentricities but not music folk.
He tweets: "All they care is to run down musicians. Actors can come to a party in chappals and that is fine with them ¦ Next time I'll appear naked in a party. The entire media wrote about my hairdo and never wrote about my excellence in Classically Mild.
It takes balls to do things I've done through my career here as a singer and not stick to the regular. You must become more aware of quality."
He adds, "I don't want my son to be a singer in India because we don't respect the madness of a musician here."
