The actress, who is very active on Twitter thanked many of the people who wished via the micro blogging site her which included her freinds from the industry Riteish Deshmukh, Siddharth, Ken Ghosh, Shruti Hassan and even author Chetan Bhagat.
Actor Riteish Deshmukh, wished her by tweeting, "Wishing my 1st and the most favourite co-star @geneliad a very Happy Bday. Keep Smiling and have a suppa day- loads of love"
"To the girl who redefined cuteness for generations to come, happy b'day @geneliad" wrote Chetan Bhagat.
Genelia started her career with the Hindi movie Tujhe Meri Kasam in 2003 but failed to garner much attention of audience and instead struck big time down in the south Indian film industry.
Her big Bollywood break came in the form of the 2008 Aamir Khan Productions' Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na where she was paired opposite chocolate boy Imran Khan, which shot the actress to national limelight.
Despite not being able to duplicate the success of Jane Tu, she has had eventful days with films, reality television and plenty of brand endorsements.
In the beginning 2010, she was linked with Bollywood actor and son of Congress party leader Riteish Deshmukh but Genelia reportedly denied the rumours with a customary "we're just friends" reply.
This year, after a lacklustre Dance Pe Chance, she is slated come out with two Hindi films Hook Ya Crook, also starring John Abraham and Shreyas Talpade and It's My Life opposite Harman Baweja along with a couple of Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam movies.
