"Cinema has been my being for almost two decades now, " says Bollywood fashion designer Manish Malhotra.
That said, the couturier picks six stars who he feels will make the most impact in his latest creations.
Malhotra is presently putting a new collection together for an upcoming Fashion Week in the city (starting September 17).
Describing his latest work as extremely Indian but crafted in contemporary styles, he adds, "As it is the festive season, I am settling for traditional wear but with lots of fun and trying to make it funky."
Here's MM's B-Town list...
KAREENA KAPOOR
Net saris suit her the best and she carries it off really well. A ravishing electric blue sheer sari worn with a deep-cut modern top as a sari blouse.
DEEPIKA PADUKONE
A chiffon sari worn with a jacket as a blouse. The jacket has an open back to spell sexy which the tall Deepika can pull off extremely well.
AISHWARYA RAI
She has immense carriage and both traditional and contemporary wear go well for her. But she would look gorgeous in a deep red traditional sari with a sheer blouse to match.
ABHISHEK BACHCHAN
A red contemporary sherwani with beige pants would look fantastic on him. It would be styled like a bandhgala for that classic look.
SONAM KAPOOR
Skinny pants offset with a draped kurta with a deep, open back and no dupatta. She's young and for her, I would go for a nude colour like beige.
PRIYANKA CHOPRA
An absolutely low-waist ghagra and blouse in tones of blue with a bit of red. It is without any embellishments, something like what I had designed for her in the Dostana music video.
