Gandhi My Father director Feroz Khan returns to the stage after a long hiatus
Gandhi My Father director Feroz Khan is back on the floorboards. His new play in English, Dinner With Friends, features
Perizaad Zorabian, Tisca Chopra, Vinay Jain and Joy Sengupta.
After calling the shots in Anil Kapoor's production that starred Akshaye Khanna, Darshan Jariwala and Shefali Shah, the
writer- director had kept himself away from the theatre scenario. Dinner With Friends marks his return to the stage after a
hiatus.
The drama revolves around two married couples that are friends. They are portrayed at different ages and stages of their
lives.
The breakup of one couple forces the other to choose sides and then begin to question their own relationship.
Says Feroz, "I always consider myself as a theatre director who is also a film director. My roots are in theatre. Films are
secondary to me in terms of my work; theatre has always been my first preference."
He adds, "The play is extremely contemporary. It revolves around the effects that divorce has on a marriage and
relationships with your friends. The play is about questioning marriages and relations.
Dinner With Friends premieres at the NCPA in Mumbai on October 30 followed by shows throughout November and
December across the country.
Khan's earlier plays include Saalgirah with Anupam and Kirron Kher, Tumhari Amrita with Shabana Azmi and Farooque
Shaikh, Salesman Ramlal with Satish Kaushik and Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hain with Anupam Kher.
