Jhootha Hi Sahi, which released on Friday, is director Abbas Tyrewala's second film. Though he had differences with Aamir Khan, the producer of his debut Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, Tyrewala insists that Khan watch the film.
"The first producer is like the first love. You never really forget the man who gave you the chance to direct your first film, " says Tyrewala.
Less than a week away form the release Abbas said, "I realise I have no time. But I promised myself I'd do this when Jhootha Hi Sahi was completed. I want to invite Aamir and Kiran to watch the film not just as a sentimental gesture but so Aamir can suggest changes."
Tyrewala says that though he never met Khan during the filming of Jhootha Hi Sahi, he subconsciously followed his rule of filmmaking by screening portions of the film to core audience groups. "After every few reels I'd invite close friends from the industry who I could trust, and ask for their opinion, " he adds.
"Aamir wouldn't just watch the film and give his opinion. He would tell me exactly why a particular scenes works and how to improve the ones that don't, " says Tyrewala. The movie has already suffered a delay owing to AR Rahman's late delivery of the music score.
Tyrewala's only fear was the lack of time. "We were really cutting it close. And my producer was panicking. So we were ready to stick our necks out and go by Aamir's suggestions."
Call that perfection.
