In a true filmi way, two of India's most high-profile families, the Gandhis and the Bachchans, have turned foes after sharing decades of friendship.

It all started when Jaya Bachchan made a statement about Amitabh's political life and claimed Gandhi family had betrayed Amitabh after introducing him to politics.

Reacting to the comment Rahul Gandhi, who is touring Amethi, says: "It is full of lies. I am sure that those who know the Gandhis also know that we have never ever betrayed anyone. Why are they levelling charges after so many years? Amitabh was introduced into politics two decades ago. In fact, the Bachchans are the ones who have changed loyalties."

When last heard Jaya accepted a Samajwadi Party nomination to the Rajya Sabha.
