After making waves with the popular Ponds face wash commercial and the Ruffles Lays chips ad,
supermodel Nethra Raghuram will now be donning the sari of a village woman in a silver screen
adaptation of a story by Munshi Premchand, one of the pioneers of Hindi literature.
"I'll be playing Budhiya, the wife of Rajpal Yadav in 'Kafan'," tells the tall, sultry model who won the
Femina Look of the Year contest in 1997.
Speaking on the sidelines of a news conference to promote her latest film "Inteqaam -- The Perfect
Game", which has been chosen as the opening film for the South Asian Foundation film festival in
Tashkent, Raghuram exuded the confidence and composure that has taken her to the helm of the
modelling world.
"Now I want to concentrate on acting. I want to do roles that would give me an opportunity to explore,"
she said. "This is like a re-launch into films for me."
The model, who took her first plunge into filmdom with forgettable performances in "Takshak" and
"Bhopal Express", will also be seen playing the lead role opposite Jackie Shroff in "Tum Ho
Na".
In "Inteqam...", a fast-paced thriller that has been compared with "Basic Instinct", she will play a
psychiatrist working with the police force.
Manoj Bajpai and Ishaa Koppikar also star in the movie. Bajpai plays a police officer investigating a
series of murders, starting with the murder of Ishaa Koppikar's friend.
Made by "Tumko Na Bhool Payenge" director Pankuj Parashar, the film releases in theatres next
Friday.
