There seems to be a war of words between Ekta Kapoor and Sanjay Gupta regarding the plot to the sequel of Shootout At Lokhandwala (2007).

Though Apoorva Lakhia directed the 2007 film, Shootout At Lokhandwala, the sequel will be directed by Sanjay Gupta. Reports state that Apoorva and Lakhia had some differences in opinion during the production of Shootout At Lokhandwala

Although Sanjay Gupta is directing the sequel, buzz is doing the rounds that Ekta Kapoor wants to give the sequel the same headline space as the first flick.

Gupta seems to have his own reasons for not making another movie based on a real shootout.Though the makers are trying to find out another story on confrontation between a cop and a gangster. Gupta is not keen to base the sequel on a real life incident.

Gupta, according to sources has already bought the rights of a recent Hong Kong action movie and he wants the sequel to be based on that. Gupta is keen to make his film based on fiction while Ekta wants a real life incident.Unless the makers decide on the plot it seems that the sequel will fail to see the light of the day.

Gupta admitted that there are some differences in opinion and added that though Ekta is a dear friend, there are some problems regarding an original incident for the sequel. Gupta feels that after the shootout incident at Lokhandwala Complex in 1991, there has been no other incidents except for Parliament attack in 2001 and 26/11 carnage.

Gupta does not want to make his sequel based on Parliament attack or the Mumbai attacks as they are sensitive cases. However, Ekta fails to see any reason and wants to make the film based on a real shootout incident.
