It had competition from "Main Hoon Na" director Farah Khan's wedding on the same day, but stars also
turned out in full force for the marriage of music director Bappi Lahiri's daughter to a New York- based opera
singer.
Rima Lahiri, who has accompanied her father at various stage shows, married Shouvik Mondle Tuesday night
in a typically Bengali family wedding.
In attendance were a host of Bollywood celebrities including the Roshan family, Jeetendra, Dharmendra,
Govinda, Jaya Prada, Rani Mukherjee, Dimple Kapadia with daughter Rinke, Rajesh Khanna, Asha Bhosle
and Moushumi Chaterjee. Industrialist Subroto Roy was there as well.
Playback singer Sonu Nigam and wife Madhurima were there too, scotching rumours that they are
separating.
A lot of the guests made it for Farah Khan's wedding too in what was clearly the star evening of the
week.
Father and daughter were both loaded with jewellery.
"Jewellery is very dear to me and that's why I gifted a lot of them to my daughter," said Bappi, known for
loading on the glittering stuff.
"I'm so grateful to the industry that they came and gave blessings to my family. Even Dilip saab called to say
that he could not attend as he is not keeping so well," tells an excited Bappi.
The bride and the groom had met at a recording studio, said Shouvik, who is from Kolkata who has sung for
Virginia Opera, New Jersey State Opera, Nashville Opera and Westfield Symphony among others.
His stage credits include Germont in "La Traviata", the title character in "Don Giovanni" and Sharpless in
"Madam Butterfly".
