Bollywood hit "Main Hoon Na" swept the floor at the MTV IMMIES (Indian Music Excellence Awards)
here, winning three, including the Best Film Album, awards.
More than 2,000 people, including some of the biggest names from Bollywood and the music industry,
attended the award ceremony Friday at the Tulip Star Hotel in Juhu.
Sonu Nigam was named the Best Male Singer (Films) for his playback singing in "Main Hoon Na", while
Sushmita Sen won the Best Female Performance in a Song (Film) award for "Tumhe Jo Maine Dekha" in the
film.
Hrithik Roshan won the award in the male category for the song "Main Aisa Kyon Hoon" from the film
"Lakshya". Sneha Pant was named the Best Female Pop Singer for "Kabhi Aar Kabhi Paar" while the Best
Pop Album award went to Harry Anand for "Sweet Honey Mix".
The Best New Film Music Talent award went to Kunal Ganjawala for "Bheege Hoth Tere" from "Murder", and
Naushad, the grand mogul of Indian music, was given the Inspiration Award.
Jagjit Singh's "Close To My Heart" won the Best Ghazal Album award while Pritam won the Best Composer
award for the song "Dhoom Machale" from "Dhoom".
In the international category, Black Eyed Peas, Enrique Iglesias and Tata Young were awarded.
High voltage music spiced up with performances by Indian and international artistes marked the evening,
attended by a host of Bollywood celebrities like Shilpa Shetty, Sonali Bendre, Diya Mirza, Hrishita Bhatt and
Kim Sharma.
South Indian stars like Prabhudeva, Kamal Hassan and Vasundhara Das were also present.
Strings, Fuzon, Sukhbir & JoSH rocked the audience along side musicians like Apache Indian, Jay Sean and
Falguni Pathak. Bollywood stars Fardeen Khan, Zayed Khan and Priyanka Chopra also joined the
show.
International artists Alanis Morrisette and Darius gave livewire performances, joined by DJs from Britain's
Radio 1.
