"The film was on its last leg. Jaaved jumped on the bed very hard and his knee and the ligament below the knee cap tore very badly.
"We immediately took him to Lilavati Hospital as we were in Mehboob Studio... the doctors examined him after X-Rays were taken. Luckily, it was not a major injury but he was in immense pain, to say the least," producer Ashok Thackeria said in a press statement.
Still, the crew shot the scene, albeit with certain changes.
"Despite the pain, Jaaved insisted we finish the shoot and hence we changed the scene with the four boys together on the bed. Javed was brought with a leg support and crutches to the shooting floor, and we wrapped up the shoot and celebrated later with Jaaved and the entire team," said Thackeria. "Double Dhamaal" also features Sanjay Dutt, Riteish Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Aashish Chaudhary, Kangana Ranaut and Mallika Sherawat. It releases June 24, and will have its world premiere at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) weekend and awards in Toronto next month.
