Laughs Nambiar, "I guess you can't take me too far away from my preoccupations as a filmmaker. But it's a different territory this time. "
Too bad Nambiar's chosen title for his second film Michael has been taken away by another film starring Naseeruddin Shah.
"I'd have fought tooth and nail for it. But it's been taken by my Shaitan producer Anurag Kashyap's production. You can't fight family. So my struggle for a title begins again, "says Nambiar.
Bejoy also had to struggle hard to get the vintage Mohd Rafi song Khoya khoya chand for his film. "But Sa Re Ga Ma (HMV) was not willing to part with the title, not for any money that I could afford. Finally it was Rajeev Khandelwal who intervened to get us the song. Otherwise we had another alternative Lakdi ki kathi (from the film Masoom) ready as a standby. I am glad Rajeev got us Khoya khoya chand. That's the song I really wanted. "
Bejoy almost didn't get Rajeev for the cop's role. Apparently he wanted the Big B for the cop's part and even re-wrote the role to suit the senior icon. But Bejoy had no access to the Big B.
Says the director, "I even shot the climax without my hero because I hadn't finalized anyone. I don't want to go into all the specific actors I approached for the cop's role. Or for that matter all the other roles. But I'm glad I finally worked with the actors who were just right for their parts. "
