The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court denied him bail. However, Judge Venkatesh Hulagi said the actor can seek bail in sessions court.
Darshan was arrested by Vijayanagara police on Friday after his wife Vijayalakshmi filed a complaint accusing him of torturing her and her child.
She said Darshan burnt her face with cigarettes, hit her with slippers, bit her ears in fits of rage and threatened to kill her keeping her at gunpoint.
However, later she took back her complaint saying her injuries were due to a slip at the bathroom.
But she could not stop the policefrom taking Darshan into custody as her First Information Report (FIR) was already registered by then.
The Sandalwood actor was booked under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 27 of the arms act.
While Darshan's wife has been hospitalized with her wounds, the actor too got himself admitted to a hospital saying he is suffering from uneasiness, physical strain, acidity, asthma and initial stages of jaundice.
Meanwhile, Kannada actress Nikita Thukral, whose alleged affair with Darshan led to his marital dispute, claimed her innocence.
"Darshan and I are only good friends. I have a good relation with his wife too. I requested them (Darshan and his wife) to clear these rumours that are affecting my reputation, " said Nikita on Tuesday.
"A few people have claimed that I am very close to Darshan. I am not a close friend of any one in Kannada film industry, " she said.
The actress claimed she is suffering from high blood pressure due to these allegations.
"The family doctor has said that rest and sleep are very essential for her at this stage. The past six months have been very stressful for our family as we lost our father. Even as we were trying to come to terms with the loss and console our mother, this news hit us. Nikitha is very upset about the whole incident, " said her sister Neetu.
Meanwhile, Kannada Producers' Association has banned Nikita for three years after the incident, although they took no action against Darshan.
Soorappa Babu, secretary of the Association, told reporters: "Everyone is aware of her (Nikita's) alleged role in creating problems for Vijayalakshmi. We do not want heroines who create problems between heroes and their wives."
"We have no problems if she wants to complete the shooting for 'Sangolli Rayanna' but she cannot sign new films. We have already informed our members not to engage her as heroine in their films, " said Babu.
However, Nikita said she is unaware of the ban.
"I will give my reply when I receive the letter from the Association. I am planning to visit Bangalore shortly. I will, if need arises, visit the Association office to answer their queries, " said Nikita.
