Senior Inspector Vikas Rathore of Amboli Police Station, where the case has been registered, disclosed this to the mediapersons on Thursday.
Roy, while returning from a party during the wee hours of Thursday morning, rammed his Mercedes car into another vehicle in which a four-member family was travelling.
Rathore also said that Roy had been produced before the court.
"Till now, we have not received any report which confirms that he was drunk. We have registered case under 396/27933 MV (Motor Vehicle) Act. We have arrested and sent him to the court," Rathore said.
The three persons who were injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. Among them the condition of a 56-year-old woman is believed to be serious.
"Ronit Roy was driving a Mercedes car. He came from SAB TV lane and hit another vehicle in which four people were injured. One Kanta Darera is a bit serious and others are normal. Three of them have been admitted (to a hospital)," Rathore added.
As per latest reports, the actor had been released on a bail with a surety of 12,000 rupees by a local court.
Roy is a popular face on soaps aired on television and has also starred in Hindi and regional films.
