"We have raised over $1 million and donations are still pouring in," said Sabbas Joseph, director of Wizcraft Entertainment, one of the organisers of the show.
"We also got about $500,000 through auctions of film costumes," he tells, adding contributions would be accepted until month-end.
Over 300,000 mobile phone messages were received after viewers saw the performances of Indian and Pakistani actors for the worthy cause, Joseph said.
The "Help" show telecast by 17 TV channels simultaneously Saturday had been held in Mumbai Feb 6. It was also beamed on 12 TV channels across the world.
Radio stations like Radio Mirchi, Red FM, Radio City and Go 92.5 FM aired the show.
The telethon allowed viewers to pledge money for the cause either by SMS or through a website.
Sixty-one superstars including Amitabh Bachchan, son Abhishek Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Sunjay Dutt, Priyanka Chopra, Amisha Patel, Preity Zinta, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Salman Khan, Vivek Oberoi, Akshay Kumar performed in the event. Singers Alka Yagnik and Adnan Sami also serenaded audiences for the benefit of the Dec 26 victims. Money is also being raised through online auction and some of the items that have gone under the hammer include three jackets of Hrithik Roshan, a watch from Formula One champion Michael Schumacher and a date with Shah Rukh Khan.
