Bollywood and society folk are falling over each other to host international celebrities visiting the country

Indians love partying and they take the role of playing a good host rather seriously. It stands true of Bollywood too. Off late, B-Town stars are extending their hospitality to the biggest international celebrities visiting the Indian shores.

Not only do they become self-appointed escorts of high profile Hollywood stars but also throw glitzy bashes in their honour where almost everyone from the industry is present.

Whether they do it as part of an ego-boosting trip or even to gain publicity is debatable. A sneak peek into some such parties...

Bachchans-Oprah Winfrey
The Bachchans played hosts to the international talk show queen Oprah Winfrey, who arrived in town recently. Oprah spent close to an hour with the family at their Juhu residence and also met Beti B. Later in the evening, Oprah headed to the party hosted by Parmeshwar Godrej in her honour where the biggest names from Bollywood and high society greeted her.

Suniel Shetty-Bryan Adams and Akon
Suniel Shetty whose event management company organised Bryan Adam's concerts in India, threw a bash for the pop icon. Suniel and his wife stayed away from meat during the tour dates as the rock star is a vegetarian.

He also hosted Akon's birthday party when he was in India for his concerts. Shah Rukh Khan too hosted a separate party for the musician.


Anil Kapoor-Tom Cruise
Anil Kapoor hosted a party for Tom Cruise, his co-star in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol during his two-day visit to Mumbai to promote the film. He threw the bash at the Taj Mahal hotel.

Though Bollywood celebs including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar gave it a miss, Aamir Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Sonam Kapoor, Preity Zinta, and filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra were among the 150 invitees who attended.


Shah Rukh Khan-Hugh Jackman
SRK hosted an impromptu party for the Australian star and wife Deborrah Lee at his residence Mannat.


PC and SRK-Gerard Butler
Priyanka Chopra's special party in honour of Hollywood hottie Gerard Butler at her residence was a night to remember. Apparently the actor was completely smitten by PC's charms and kept going down on his knees to propose her, as a joke of course!

Reportedly, PC's then-beau Shahid Kapoor was also present at the party. It was a star-studded bash. Shah Rukh too later threw a party for the Hollywood star.


Aamir Khan-Gustavo Santaolalla
Aamir Khan and wife Kiran Rao hosted a party in honour of the Oscar winner musician Gustavo Santaolalla. The legendary musician has done the soundtrack for Kiran's directorial debut Dhobi Ghat. Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Karan Johar attended the star-studded party.


Queenie-Paris Hilton
Socialite Queenie Singh threw a bash for the American heiress, Paris Hilton when she in town to launch her fashion line. It was a night of glamour and glitz at a suburban hotel where the party was hosted. However, most of Bollywood decided to give it a miss.


Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra-Liz Hurley and Shane Warne
Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra hosted a party for their IPL team player Shane Warne and his Hollywood actor girlfriend Liz Hurley at their bungalow in Juhu. The party was earlier planned in Jaipur but was shifted to Mumbai due to Shilpa's ill-health.


Arjun Rampal-Lady Gaga
Arjun Rampal held a bash at his nightclub to host F1 after parties with international pop star Lady Gaga who flew down to India for the first time to do a live show. Vijay Mallya, Anil Kapoor and SRK were among those present.
