Unlike the Stardust awards held last week or the Sansui awards to be held next month, which is unlikely to be attended by Shah Rukh and his friends - which means half the industry - the turnout at the Filmfare Awards is expected to be impressive.
Both Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan will attend, though contrary to earlier expectations they won't perform.
Shah Rukh Khan, in the race for the best actor trophy for "Veer-Zara", is expected to be there with his wife Gauri and friend Karan Johar who has just recovered from a bout of jaundice.
Says Karan: "I haven't seen anything of the outside world for more than three weeks. The Filmfare Awards is going to be my first social event after recovery. I don't think I'd want to miss it for anything.
"I'm not a candidate for any of the awards this time. But my closest friends, Yash Chopra, Shah Rukh, Aditya Chopra, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherjee, are all up there. I just want to cheer for them as much as I can...considering my health."
Preity, nominated for "Veer-Zara", is expected to leave the country right after the function for a three-month shooting spell abroad.
"But I couldn't miss this for the world. I think the competition in the best actress category is formidable. Let's see."
Akshay Kumar, who's nominated in two categories won't be able to attend as he's shooting in Dubai. "But I'm very excited. I'm a latecomer in the awards field."
Hrithik Roshan, who's in Shanghai training for martial arts, thinks: "I don't stand a chance. There's too much stiff competition. Besides, I think my absence will affect my chances."
Farah Khan, who's an absolute newcomer to awards in categories other than choreography, is determined "to go out there and have fun regardless of whether I win or not. No matter who wins, it'll be a friend. I just hope Shah Rukh gets the best actor award even if it isn't for my film 'Main Hoon Na'."
