IT seems singer Abhijeet has bitten off more than he can chew. After he accused composers Sajid-Wajid of plagiarising the music of Housefull 2, the duo has now decided to take legal action against the singer.
The duo's resolve is stronger after Abhijeet called at the composers' housing society (Royal Classic at Andheri) on Friday and complained against the composers.
An irate Wajid says, "It's time to end these wild allegations. Abhijeet says he didn't do all this for publicity and didn't want to stall our film, Housefull 2. But, the film's music released on February 6.
What took him so long to realise the ‘similarities' between our song and something he had composed years ago, which we have never even heard of?"
Wajid adds that he first met Abhijeet during a TV show and he (Abhijeet) invited the duo to his farmhouse. "He spoke so sweetly, and now he does this. And how can he claim to be original? He earns a living by imitating Kishore Kumar."
‘He's ignorant'
Wajid says he would never dream of copying Abhijeet's song. "Even if someone gave us a chance to copy his song for free, we would reject it. To go to court for a random similarity in the notes shows acute ignorance."
Commenting on Abhijeet's campaign against singers from Pakistan in Bollywood, Wajid says, "He sang a song in Gangster, which is a note-by-note copy of a Pakistani song composed by M Arshad.
Since he's so adamant on punishing Indians who work with Pakistani musicians, he should be the first to be punished. Respect is commanded, not demanded."
