In the police chargesheet filed in the Bharat Shah Nazim Rizvi case, it has come to light that the threat of the mafia over Bollywood runs deep and penetrating.Foremost amongst the 1300-page document is the statement of Shah Rukh Khan who has detailed in his statement his brush with threats from the underworld. In news reports published, it is amply clear that Shah Rukh was variously coerced and pressurized to sign on at least one project for the accused Nazim Rizvi.
Shah Rukh Khan`s statements to the police during his interrogations, revealed for the first time, relate how the actor was accosted at various places to sign-on with Abbas-Mustan, the director duo who made Chori,Chori, Chupke, Chupke and recently Ajnabee. However, the gutsy Khan refused to buckle under pressure and didn`t get scared by the threats, according to his statement.
It must also be noted that many more details would be available, on how other producers, actors, actresses and directors are the target of not only extortion threats, but also of coercion to sign (or not) projects, or to delay the release of films, or allot bulk dates to producers with underworld links, and financing of films with underworld money.
