Debutant director Mohit Suri, whom Goswami was courting during the making of Zeher, has given her a raw deal in the film! This despite the fact that favouritism is the norm in Bollywood. Incessant fights have led to a rift between the couple.
Goswami, who plays second fiddle to Shamita Shetty, has to contend with the tag of a sex symbol.
Publicity posters show her flaunting her bare back, and are sure to mislead audiences. Goswami is certainly not a Mallika Sherawat, nor is this film a Murder. The actress is not interested in being labelled a dare-to-bare hottie, especially since Zeher is not a sex film.
But Suri denies having given Goswami a raw deal. "The film revolves around three characters, essayed by Udita, Shamita and Emran. Neither of them have been underplayed," he maintains.
Goswami's long wait after her debut in Pooja Bhatt's Paap, has definitely not been worth it. The actress was given the impression that the "other woman's" role was more challenging than that of the wife, played by Shetty. But on watching the film, the audience might feel otherwise. Shetty is present in practically every frame, even in a song that was meant to feature only Goswami.
Goswami wasn't the first choice for this role; two other actress, Dia Mirza and a newcomer, were also considered. But the Bhatts ruled out Mirza when their film Tumsa Nahin Dekha didn't fare well.
