Sugena Choudhuri, 19, whose debut film "Prathama Prem" (First Love) was released recently, was allegedly kidnapped in Bhubaneswar March 18 by an advertiser Rakesh Patnaik, police officials said.

As per the actress' version, she had been waiting for an auto-rickshaw near her house when Patnaik and three of his friends arrived in a car.

Since she was formerly acquainted with Patnaik, she accepted his offer to drop her, she said. But instead of taking her to her friend's place, Patnaik allegedly took her to another house and kept her confined.

Sugena said she was served food, after eating which she felt uneasy. She was then taken to a marriage bureau where she was told to sign some documents.

Her photographs were taken with Patnaik that were released to the press last week. The marriage bureau even announced that the alliance as a love marriage against the wishes of Sugena's parents.

However, Sugena's father Dharam Veer Choudhuri lodged a complaint with the police after one of his relatives received an unidentified call that the actress had been kidnapped and the love marriage was performed against her wishes.

The caller also gave the address of the house where she was confined.

Police officials, who raided the house Thursday and rescued her is now hunting for the kidnappers who are absconding.
