Though several celebrities in Bollywood are vegetarians and self-confessed animal lovers, few actually make an effort to help animals in distress

Amrita Rao not only objected to a recent case of animal cruelty near her house, she also shot off photographic evidence to an animal rights NGO.

A source informs, `There was a buffalo dairy farm in the vicinity of her residence and each time Amrita had to leave her house, she had to pass by the location.

She was shocked to see that the buffaloes were being fed plastic bags and garbage apart from fodder. The actress was so disturbed that she even mentioned it on a social networking site.`

Despite Amrita trying to reason with the owner of the dairy, the cattle kept grazing on the garbage. Finally, the actress lodged a complaint with PETA. The source adds, `They had a chat with the owner and he has promised not to repeat his actions hereafter.` Amrita Rao says, `The incident really upset me and I am glad that PETA came to the animals' rescue.`
