"Mere Dad Ki Maruti" is made by Y-Films, an arm of Yash Raj Films.
"Saqib was a chef at Saleem's, before he entered the industry. But he was keen to try his hand at acting," said Saqib's spokesperson.
His father is a restaurateur and runs a chain in Delhi. During his college days, Saqib briefly assisted his dad in running the restaurants. Later, he got interested in modelling and started getting offers from ad agencies and eventually shifted to Mumbai.
"Mere Dad Ki Maruti" is set to hit the screens March 15, after which he will be seen in Karan Johar's "Bombay Talkies".
