Rituparo Ghosh is a delighted man these days. Not only has his "Antar Mahal" been selected in the
competition section of Locarno Film Festival but he is also making a Bengali film.
"Antar Mahal", which features Abhishek Bachchan and Soha Ali Khan, is a tale of forbidden love between a
widowed daughter-in-law of a feudal household and a sculptor. Ghosh is all praise for the junior Bachchan and
Soha.
"According to me, Abhishek Bachchan and Soha Ali Khan are at their best. While Abhishek has no
dialogues, Soha is excellent before the camera. They're both chips off the old block," he says.
After "Raincoat", Ghosh is back to what he calls his first love - making a Bengali film.
"That's right. I'm making another Bengali film, featuring my two favourites - Prosenjit and Konkona
Sensharma."
Both have been a part of Ghosh's cast in earlier films.
"Konkona did 'Titli' with her mother Aparna Sen for me. Prosenjit is of course a very old friend. He was in my
first film. He believed in me long before anyone else did. Besides, he's the only star in Bengal. Nobody else
sells. He's the Shah Rukh Khan of Bengal."
And guess what this film will be about? Infidelity.
"The theme will be marital infidelity. It will feature two unrelated stories running simultaneously in the narrative.
In both the stories, Prosenjit and Konkona Sensharma will play the couples."
Planman, the Delhi-based organisation that made "Rok Sako To Rok Lo" earlier this year, will produce the
film. Ghosh intends to start the movie in June.
