Looks like Ranbir Kapoor knows how to make hay while the sun shines. With his latest release stirring up a storm at the box office with its opening weekend collections, comes the buzz that RK now even wants to make his foray into film production.
And all this when the young star already commands a substantive percentage on a profit sharing basis with his filmmakers.
According to sources, Ranbir will apparently co-produce Anurag Basu's next titled Jagga Jasoos where the actor will play the lead character of a detective.
For Ayan Mukerji's Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, RK apparently is earning a 28 per cent profit share. The numbers for his Abhinav Kashyap next stands at 30 per cent. And for Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet, the man of the moment is commanding an even higher figure.
A trade source says, `With every film that he does, Ranbir is consolidating his position in Bollywood. He has already proved his mettle with his acting skills. And now he wants to have a finger in every pie to make the most of the situation.`
Though the exact percentage he would be securing from Bombay Velvet is unclear, an informer states, `Officials from the LA office of the production house had come down to meet Ranbir and Anurag to sign the deal. The producers of his films definitely have a lot more confidence.`
Ranbir and the producer of YJHD, Karan Johar remained unavailable for comment.
