In an industry where stars are known to think many times over before passing judgments or mouthing their opinions, very few folk actually don't stop to mince their words. Ekta Kapoor is one of those controversy's children, who has had many headlines devoted to her angry outbursts.
Just a few days ago when Shah Rukh Khan reportedly requested for a special screening to watch her new film Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara, she snubbed him. Someone who is known to not be politically correct to please anybody, in the process she has managed to rub some people the wrong way.
Smriti Irani
The television star left Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (KSBKBT) in 2007 following a spat with Ekta. She was later replaced by Gautami Kapoor but the ratings dropped prompting the producer to bring the 'original Tulsi' back into the show.
As expected, Smriti's re-entry in 2008 became the national news. Not very long ago, the actress-turned-politician was asked to play a nautch girl in an episode of Ekta's TV show Ek Thi Naayika.
Given her political expediency, Smriti refused to play the role. As a result, the makers had to change the script and Sakshi Tanwar was requested to play the part instead.
Suniel Shetty Sanjay Dutt
There were promising talks of her joining hands with Shetty's production company Popcorn. But it didn't work out very well, as she wasn't very satisfied with the way their films - Mission Istanbul and EMI - shaped up.
Once Popcorn got out of the picture, Ekta collaborated with Sanjay Dutt for a huge deal to co-produce five movies over a period of four years for R 250 crore.
However, none of these projects took off and the deal was called off. Following which, Ekta went ahead and tied up his Sanjay's then arch rival filmmaker Sanjay Gupta resulting in two successful gangster films.
Kangna Ranaut
Rumour mills started buzzing about Kangna being unhappy with the way she was sidelined - in favour of her co-stars - during the promotions of Shootout At Wadala.
In fact, she was conspicuous by her absence at the success party of the film at Ekta's Juhu residence. Obviously, all was not well between the two but both repeatedly evaded the media questions with diplomacy. The latest twist to the fallout was the actress attending the producer's iftar bash.
Rajeev Khandelwal
Kahiin To Hoga actually launched Rajeev as the affable Sujal straight onto the national spectrum and he became a household name. But the actor had other plans as he left the quintessentially K-titled Ekta show at the peak of its popularity.
There were several reports suggesting that the two had dispute, as the actor wasn't very happy with the quality of the script. Eventually, he was substituted by Gurpreet Singh.
Over the years, Rajeev has been more active in Bollywood than on the small screen. For the most part, both the parties have maintained dignified silence over what really went wrong with the popular soap.
Pulkit Samrat
This Fukrey star made his television debut as Lakshya Virani in the long-running television soap by Balaji Telefilms, KSBKBT in 2006. The show first got him recognition but he decided quit in 2007.
The actor reportedly faced troubles as he had a back injury and couldn't keep up with the shooting schedules. In the end, Pulkit filed a court case against Balaji Telefilms for the non-payment of dues and for not allowing him to take up other projects from other production houses.
Things have changed a lot since as the actor has made a move to the big screen and the actor maintains total normalcy between the two parties
Nivedita Basu
Starting from the early days of Hum Paanch, Nivedita was associated with Ekta's production house for a little less than a decade. Working in tandem with Ekta at one point of time, she abruptly quit in 2009. There was a strong buzz doing the rounds that the two were embroiled in creative differences. Also, the failure of the then newly-launched TV shows contributed to the hasty fallout.
Kiss and make up
Some fellow celebs Ekta reconnected with after a short rift.
Shahid Kapur
Shahid Kapur: Sasha was the first choice for the role ultimately essayed by Imran Khan. Thus there were rumours of them sharing a bad rapport. Regardless, Shahid is playing the protagonist in Ekta's next production Milan Talkies.
Prachi Desai
Prachi Desai: One of the many Ekta discoveries, the young actress was said to have developed a cold shoulder from her mentor. She wasn't even seen at any of the parties hosted by the producer. However, one picture of them together recently squashed all buzz.
Anita Hassanandani
Anita Hassanandani: She even changed her name to Natassha on the latter's suggestion. The TV actress made a switch to big screen in Ekta's films. But then she had major fallout and went back to her original name. As of now, the two are friends but the name remains!
