'I look at characters, not scripts'

Upcoming actress Sonam Kapur is not choosy about scripts but wants to know about the characters offered to her before signing films. She is enthused by the success of her movie 'Ranjhana' and is happy with her small role in 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.' She accepted the small role in 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' because the character was lovely and the story itself was impressive.

In an interview Sonam says that she wanted to work with director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra once again after 'Delhi 6'. Besides she is a big fan of Farhan Akhtar who is a marvelous person, director, singer and actor. Though the role was not meaty but she enjoyed accepting it.

To a question the actress says that she wants the audience to remember her for her characters which will help her to grow as an actor and as a person. She looks at characters first and not scripts. The consideration for the director is also important for her.


Sonam acknowledges that she has a long way to go and much to learn from the industry to grow as an actor and as a person. She wants to keep the learning process going on in the times to come.

Sonam is an avid reader also. She at the moment is re-reading Rohinton's Mistry's books. She is also reading Chitra Banerjee. She is reading the 'Gone Girl.' She discloses that she simultaneously reads two to three books.
