Shah Rukh Khan will be playing a bootlegger in Rahul Dholakia's film Raees that goes on the floors next September. The period crime drama has Farhan Akhtar essay a police inspector.
Says Dholakia, `The film is set in the 1980s and loosely based on real-life incidents.`
About whether Farhan's character is based on a real-life cop from Mumbai he says, `I have taken elements from here and there to add to his character from a cop who has passed away.`
As the film is a period action crime drama, Dholakia has begun working on the look and styling. He informs, `There are a lot of people in mind, but I still haven't confirmed anyone. There is still a lot of time to finalise the crew.`
Dholakia intends to shoot the entire film in Gujarat. He informs, `I plan to shoot the film extensively in old Ahmedabad and some parts of Saurashtra as I have spent a lot of time there.`
When asked if Shah Rukh's character has grey shades, Dholakia jokingly said, `50 shades.`
And why is the film titled Raees?
Dholakia informs, `Farhan is a large-hearted cop. In fact both the characters are dil ke Raees.`
