A special screening of Abhishek Chaubey's film Dedh Ishqiya starring Madhuri Dixit was held for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community on Thursday because of its queer content.

Vivek Anand of Humsafar, a city-based organisation which promotes LGBT rights said, `Dedh Ishqiya has acquired iconic proportions and Madhuri's character as Begum Para is the new diva of the LGBT community.


The producers organised the screening for the community as part of the ongoing month-long events that will culminate in an annual pride walk today which is now been seen as a significant event in the wake of the Supreme Court judgement.`
