Manav Bhinder's short film, Dor starring Parineeti Chopra and Nasir Khan is the winner of 'Best Short Film' Award at the 'Shoot Your Vision Contest' organised jointly by Pocket Films and organisers of the recently concluded Worli Festival.
Parineeti Chopra has also lent her voice for a song in the film. Director- cinematographer Rohit Shetty presented Bhinder with the award at the function.
Dor tells a story of true love and the emotional bonding between a mother and her child. Michael draws a flashback of his childhood and explains to Ria about the tough phase that a mother has to go through when a son leaves her and moves ahead for a better future. Through this story, Michael makes Ria realise what a mother expects from her child.
An elated Bhinder said, `I am overwhelmed. This is my first film and I made it as a gift for my parents. I am grateful to Pocket Films and Worli Festival for recognising my effort.` The young filmmaker has done a course in direction from Whistling Woods.
He has also directed a short film in the past with Mandira Bedi and Sameer Soni in the lead. The music and background music for this film is done by Amal Malik.
He has worked as assistant director in films like Dharma Productions' Agneepath, Ram Gopal Varma's Attacks on 26/11 and Bhoot Returns and Rohan Sippy's Nautanki Saala.
A graduate of Bournemouth University, he has done his work placement at Warner Brothers in London for their film Edge of Tomorrow starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt.
