On the basis of a recent on-line voting conducted by BBC Asian Network, the music of 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge' that earlier this year completed 500 weeks of its run in Bombay's Maratha Mandir, emerged as the number one sound track of all time.

Kumar Sanu who was considered the number one singer at that time, didn't dominate the soundtrack - instead that honour was given to Udit Narayan.

Mehndhi Laga Ke sung by Udit Narayan and Lata Mangekshar may have started out as a simple song but , once the film was released the track became a wedding anthem - Udit Narayan went on to pick up the Filmfare award for this song. The film eventually went on to win a total of 8 filmfare awards.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge has often been described as one fo the best films to come out of India - Its popularity is huge especially at the Marathan Mandir theatre where the film has been continuously running since 1995.
