If sources are to believed, Ekta Kapoor is working on her next fictional show and it will be based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's popular novel, 'Devdas'. A source says, `The story of Devdas has fascinated lot of people and Ekta has been working on the subject for quite a few days now. The story will be loosely based on the three central characters of Devdas, Paro and Chandramukhi, and their love triangle forms the crux of the plot. Though it is not a new concept on television, it will be treated differently, and the show will be made on a grand scale.`
It is also being said that the production house is in talks with the channel Colors to bag a prime time slot for this show. `Details of the show have been kept under wraps and the casting is still underway. Things are at a nascent stage right now and once the Indian Premier League gets over, the channel and the production house will take the final call.`
When contacted, Ekta denied the story.
There are reports that the shows, 'Uttaran' and 'Madhubala', might be pulled off air due to their low ratings. It is being said that Ekta's show on 'Devdas', and producers Shashi and Sumeet Mittal's untitled show will be replacing them.
Sumeet, however, refuses to divulge anything. `Things are at the discussion stage right now,` he says. Madhubala's producer Abhinay Shukla says, `I have not heard about this development. It's just a rumour that has been doing rounds for a long time now.`
Uttaran's producer, Pintoo Guha, remained unavailable for comment, while the channel's spokesperson denied the story.
