Producer-director Deepak Shivdasani has issued a caution notice in a trade magazine stating that he is the exclusive and sole holder of the title, Ek Duuje Ke Liye, and that he has owned the title for nearly two decades now.
A source says, `Shivdasani has stated that he exclusively has the right to produce, exhibit and distribute the film. He says that he has the rights for broadcast telecast and exploitation of the films with the title Ek Duuje Ke Liye. The filmmaker has also stated that he would seek legal action against anyone using the same title.`
When contacted, Shivdasani confirmed the development and said that his caution notice is 'self explanatory'. Meanwhile, Rati's son Tanuj says that he is unaware about this. `I will have to speak to my mother about this issue because I haven't heard about this so far. Ek Duuje Ke Liye is not my next film anyway; but we will look into this matter,` he says.
Blast from the past
Ek Duuje Ke Liye, a Rati Agnihotri and Kamal Hasan-starrer, was made in 1981. Directed by K Balachander, it was a remake of his Telugu film, Maro Charitra.
The film told the love story of a north Indian girl and a south Indian boy, who are neighbours in Goa.
