Contrary to the expectation, Sanjay Dutt did not make it to the presentation. But, it was his brother-in-law actor Kumar Gaurav who was present. 'Mujhe Jeene Do' was close to Sunil Dutt's heart because it was his foray into production.
'Mujhe Jeene Do', starring Sunil Dutt himself and Waheeda Rehman, was part of the competition section at Cannes film festival in 1964.
Festival director Afzal Amanullah said he had personally chosen the film because it was inspiring to the youth to shun violence.
From a idealistic young man in films like Sujata, Hum Hindustani to the anti-hero in 'Mother India', 'Mujhe Jeene Do' and 'Amrapali', Dutt has done it all, not to forget comedies like 'Ek Phool Chaar Kante', 'Padosan', social dramas like 'Ghazal', 'Mehrbaan' and 'Meri Bhabhi'.
