Though the demon in Vikram Bhatt's upcoming film, Creature 3D, is called the Brahma Rakshasa, the filmmaker has not created its replica. During his research, the filmmaker is said to have found several temples in South India, especially in Kerala, where idols of Brahma Rakshasa are perched on the outer walls. It seems that devotees light oil lamps in front of these idols as a mark of respect.
Initially, he wanted to model his creature on one of the idols, but he was advised against it in order to avoid hurting any religious sentiments. As a result, he has now come up with his own creative take on the demon by using special effects in this Bipasha Basu-Imran Abbas starrer.
Says Vikram, `We had to use our creative skills to develop a new creature for the film. The creature is called Brahma Rakshaas who has also been featured in old Indian fables such as Vikram and Betal.`
According to Hindu mythology, Brahma Rakshasas are the spirits of Brahmins who have committed evil deeds and have to suffer even after death. They are said to be demonic spirits who feast on humans.
Vikram's team apparently sketched several types of Brahma Rakshasas, after which one design was finalised and developed with special effects. `We are not going to reveal the Brahma Rakshasa in its entirety in the promotions. Only parts of it will be shown,` says Vikram.
