Arjun Rampal has bagged the BBC Asian Network's Film Cafe Awards under the category of the best supporting actor for his portrayal of a duplicitous Bangkok dude in ‘Ek Ajnabee'.

In terms of nominations reputed journalists from the network select the nominees for these awards, while listeners from the BBC Asian Network cast their votes authentically and choose the winners of the Film Cafe Awards.

The others nominated in the category were Abhishek Bachchan, Nana Patekar, Kay Kay Menon, and Chunky Pandey. This public vote and conviction of his fans lead Arjun to beat Abhishek Bachchan by a close margin.

Arjun, who has a huge fan following overseas, was the favourite for the award that was confirmed yesterday by the BBC Asian Network's Film Café Awards.

When asked about his win, the actor said, "It really feels great. I was overwhelmed by the response I had got to the performance when the film was released. This award has come as a tremendous morale booster."
