In the March issue of Filmfare, Shah Rukh Khan has spoken out in support of dance and song sequences in Bollywood films.
He said he is aware that people term Bollywood films as bakwaas because of the dancing-jumping sequences but he said he is not in favor of eliminating them since they represent a Unique Selling Point of not only Hindi films but all other language films made in India. Khan said, "Films are an important aspect of entertainment in India. We should retain the songs and dances - that's our USP."
Khan, known as King Khan among Hindi movie lovers, says Hollywood has its own absurdities, "Look at 'King Kong' - a huge monkey falls in love with a girl - how weird can you get?" He says Indian movie makers need to work at better scripts and keep them shorter.
Shah Rukh Khan is the highest selling star of Bollywood with more than 50 films to his credit, which includes recent blockbusters such as, "Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham", "Devdas", "Main Hoon Na", "Kal Ho Naa Ho" and "Veer Zaara".
