What do actors do when film offers dwindle? They make do with whatever is available. It`s a known fact that nothing bruises an actor`s ego more than the fear of a life of anonymity. But wouldn`t it make sense for Diya Mirza to accept the fact gracefully and get on with life?
"I want to just kick *** and enjoy myself for the time being," is how she justifies her long absence from the screen. But things are not as bad as they seem.Mercifully, on the cards is a Mahesh Manjrekar film and another Govind Nihalani film, though people are wondering what made her sign Manjrekar`s film Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav, a spoof on the life and times of the Rashtriya Janata Dal chief. "It`s a very interesting film and I get to attempt comedy for the first time," she says.
But one must congratulate her for the fact that she has rejected half a dozen films in which she was expected to just be a glamour doll. Well wishers point out that her constant companion, producer Bunty Sachdev, has made all the difference.
