Ahaan Panday may be stepping into the spotlight with Saiyaara, but what stands out is his quiet self-awareness. Featured on Filmfare’s April–May 2026 cover, the young actor comes across as someone still discovering himself, “not a finished product but a work in progress.”
His journey with Shanoo Sharma is a story of patience. What began with a call he thought was a prank turned into a decade-long wait. “I was 17 when she called me, 21 when I got signed on as a YRF talent, and 26 when I started shooting. Today I’m 28… and when I look back, I just feel blessed,” he shares.
Despite the film’s scale, the experience of shooting Saiyaara felt personal. “It never felt like we were making a film, it felt like home. As newcomers Aneet and I kept thinking there’s a good chance no one would even watch it. That’s often the reality with new faces.” His bond with co-star Aneet Padda grew through that shared uncertainty. “I used to call her ‘senior’ because she was just that good on the set, always hitting her marks, completely aware of her lighting. I genuinely picked up a lot from Aneet.”
At the heart of his journey is his family, “My mom has been my biggest motivator. She’s just so happy with everything that’s happened. It’s been her dream too, though even she didn’t expect things to unfold like this,” he says, while describing his father, Chikki Panday, as someone who simply wants to see him work. Watching Saiyaara was an emotional moment at home. “My mom couldn’t stop crying… She kept saying, ‘I can’t believe that’s the same boy I saw on screen.’”
Even before release, his hopes were simple. “I remember taking her (Aneet) to different places of worship, just praying, not for a hit but simply that the film would recover its cost so we could keep getting work.”
Up next, Ahaan steps into an action entertainer with Ali Abbas Zafar. “I’d always seen Ali sir around YRF. He had this almost mythical aura about him… There are very few directors who can make their heroes look and feel a certain way.”
Having spent much of his childhood in their orbit, Ahaan speaks with deep gratitude about the influence they’ve had on him. “All I can say is that they’ve been incredibly generous as a family. They really looked after me when I was a child. With Shah Rukh Khan, what you see is truly what you get. He is as kind and intelligent as people believe. Even when the cameras aren’t on him, he has this rare ability to make you feel seen, to make you feel like you matter.”
As Ahaan Panday stands at the cusp of a promising career, what sets him apart is not just his trajectory, but his perspective. There’s an awareness of the unpredictability of the industry, a humility shaped by years of waiting, and a quiet determination to keep evolving. With Saiyaara behind him and new challenges ahead, he isn’t rushing to define himself, he’s simply allowing the journey to unfold, one moment at a time.
