'Hanuman Ji Ka Ek Glimpse Bhi Nahi': Why Sunny Deol Is Missing From the 'Ramayana: Part 1' Trailer

'Hanuman Ji Ka Ek Glimpse Bhi Nahi': Why Sunny Deol Is Missing From the 'Ramayana: Part 1' Trailer
Following the global pre-dawn Brahma Muhurat premiere of the four-minute Ramayana: Part 1 trailer, fan excitement across social media platforms was met with a persistent query: Where is Sunny Deol’s Lord Hanuman?

While the trailer offered an extensive visual look at Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana, the absence of Hanuman and the Vanara Sena generated widespread discussion online. However, trade reports, narrative timeline details, and statements from Sunny Deol himself clarify that his absence is a direct reflection of the story's structure and production schedule.

Story Timeline & Canonical Narrative Entry

The primary reason for Sunny Deol's absence stems directly from the narrative scope of the first installment:

Scope of Part 1: Ramayana: Part 1 chronicles Prince Rama's early life in Ayodhya, his marriage to Sita, their 14-year forest exile (Vanvas), and culminates around the events leading up to Sita Haran (the abduction of Sita by Ravana).

The Valmiki Ramayana Text: According to the original epic, Lord Hanuman enters the narrative only after Sita's abduction, when Lord Rama and Lakshmana venture south toward Rishyamukha Mountain in search of her.

Limited Part 1 Role: Because the first film concludes near the abduction turning point, Hanuman's presence in Part 1 is expected to be limited to a brief climax cameo, with his character taking center stage in Part 2.

Production Timelines & Shooting Schedule

Addressing his limited initial presence during a promotional event at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Sunny Deol explained that he had only recently joined the shooting schedule:

"I have done only a little work on the film so far. I still have a long way to go... I feel truly blessed to be a part of this journey. Hanuman Ji's character is not easy to portray, but it is going to be a great experience because he is innocent, strong, and powerful."

Because the visual effects-heavy Kishkindha and Vanara Sena sequences are slated for upcoming production schedules, major footage featuring Hanuman has not yet been processed for promotional cuts.

Strategic Marketing Strategy for 'Part 2'

Director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra have designed the franchise as a two-part global cinematic event:

Part 1 Focus (Diwali 2026): Centers on Ayodhya, royal lineage, forest exile, and Ravana's introduction.

Part 2 Focus (Diwali 2027): Centers on the alliance with Sugriva and Hanuman, the crossing of the ocean, and the battle of Lanka.

Holding back Sunny Deol’s character transformation allows the makers to reserve one of the epic's major visual reveals for the promotional campaign leading into Ramayana: Part 2.
