Sonali Bendre Unveils Trailer of Sohla, a Heartwarming Story of Childhood and Growing Up!
Sonali Bendre has unveiled the trailer of Sohla, marking her first outing as a film presenter and offering audiences a first look at the world of Pashya, a spirited thirteen-year-old boy preparing for the biggest day of his young life. The film releases theatrically on 16 October 2026.

Sohla, meaning celebration in Marathi, takes its name from a traditional coming-of-age ceremony celebrated by families and communities in Maharashtra. At the heart of the ritual is a simple but deeply symbolic gesture: a young boy wears his father's chappals for the first time, marking his first step from childhood towards growing up.

For Pashya, thirteen and full of the dreams and excitement of childhood, his Sohla is everything he has been looking forward to. New clothes, sweets, family, friends, celebrations and the anticipation of finally wearing his father's chappals make it the day he has imagined for months. The trailer introduces this vibrant world and the people around Pashya, while offering glimpses of the relationships, emotions and moments that shape his journey.

Set against the warmth and familiarity of village life, Sohla explores childhood, family, friendship and the quiet ways in which children begin to understand the world around them. At its centre is Pashya, a boy caught between the innocence of being thirteen and the first real signs of growing up.

Speaking about the trailer, Sonali Bendre said, “There was something about Pashya and his world that I connected with almost immediately. It’s simple, familiar and full of these little moments that somehow become the ones you remember. His family, the traditions he grows up with, the things he discovers along the way… there’s so much heart in his journey. The trailer gives you just a glimpse of that world, and I hope when people watch it, they feel some of what I felt when I first discovered Sohla. Maybe even recognise a little bit of their own story in Pashya’s.”

Director Saaikat Bagbaan added, "Sohla began with the desire to tell a story about childhood and growing up through the eyes of a thirteen-year-old boy. Pashya is surrounded by a world that feels simple, warm and familiar, and yet he is at an age where everything around him begins to mean something different. The Sohla ceremony became the perfect backdrop for that journey. I hope the trailer gives audiences a sense of the world we have created and makes them curious to meet Pashya in cinemas."

Sohla is presented by Sonali Bendre. Directed by Saaikat Bagbaan, the film is produced by Goldie Behl under the banner of Rose Audio Visuals, along with Sachin Srivastav, Ratna Srivastava and Kavita Bagban under the banner of Carryon Fiilms. It stars Pravin Dalimbkar, Devdatta Prashant Gone, Varsha Malwadkar, Vaishnavi Sanjay Ghodke and Alessandra Whelan Merediz.

The trailer of Sohla is now out, with the film releasing theatrically on 16 October 2026.
