Ranveer and Arjun create ruckus at IIFA 2015

We bring you all the crazy behind-the-scenes action from a film awards gala in Malaysia, which concluded on Sunday amid great fanfare. Plus, a look at the best and worst dressed celebs...

Gagged and pushed
Ranveer Singh's quirky antics backfired not once, but twice at the IIFA awards. First was when he decided to improvise his presentation by waxing eloquent about his last outing, 'Dil Dhadakne Do'.
He called his co-stars and director Zoya Akhtar on stage and started dancing with them, much to the annoyance of his co-host Arjun Kapoor, who even asked him to take a hike. But when Ranveer continued to go off-script, the show co-coordinator muted his mic and started playing the awards show's audio-visual. This made Arjun break into laughter.

Shraddha Kapoor

In an earlier instance, the 'Ram Leela' star broke into an impromptu jig on the green carpet, drawing attention of onlookers. He was also seen running around to meet his fans outside the venue while his personal attendant followed him carrying a speaker with blaring music. However, when the Malaysian tourism minister arrived, the security officials asked Ranveer to step away. But when he refused to budge, he was pushed away.

Parineeti Chopra

Frost bites
The cold vibes between alleged ex-flames Arjun Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha were hard to miss. After her performance - she danced to songs that were originally picturised on male actors - Ranveer and Arjun showered praises on her and her dancing skills. Sona then came up to Ranveer and handed her Dabangg-style shades to him, while Arjun seemed to be the proverbial elephant in the room. Even during the press conference, they both kept a safe distance from each other.

Ode to the showman
Shraddha Kapoor paid tribute to filmmaker Subhash Ghai, who was honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Indian Cinema award, by performing on a medley of songs from his films. Starting from 'Choli ke peechhe' ('Khalnayak') to 'Taal se taal mila' ('Taal'), she covered many songs from his movies of the 80s and 90s.

That escalated quickly
Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff, who made their acting debut around the same time and worked in many Subhash Ghai movies including the superhit 'Ram Lakhan', shared an awkward moment on stage. Before calling Ghai on stage for his Lifetime Achievement Award, Jackie said he wouldn't like to talk much about the showman as he was not a 'fraud'. "But since Anil talks a lot, he should be given that opportunity today," he added. Anil retorted saying, "I don't mind being fraud and today, I have the right to be one."

Nodded off
The IIFA Rocks event on Thursday evening was preceded by a press meet in the morning. While Ayushmann Khurrana was present, his co-host Parineeti Chopra was nowhere to be seen. When asked why, the actor casually remarked that Pari was fast asleep!

Stuck midway
On one of the days, Anil Kapoor got stuck in the elevator along with filmmakers David Dhawan and Sajid Nadiadwala. As a few bouncers and hotel staff were also with them, the elevator apparently got overloaded and stopped midway for about two minutes. The staff then worked on some buttons, unloaded some people on the next floor and got the celebs to the ground floor.

Fashion report
The green carpet at the IIFA awards this year saw some serious whoa-look-at-that to what-were-they thinking fashion moments. While some played it safe, others stole the show with their risque yet glamorous fashion choices. A look at the best and worst dressed...

Applause
Bipasha Basu

One might argue that this look is a bit too much, but we think she looks incredible. Right from that winged eyeliner and red lips to that loose bun and Indo-western anarkali, she brought on some well-needed desi glamour.

Lisa Haydon

If there's one dress we dig from the night, it's this. Spelling elegance and poise, Lisa togged out in a white gown with an embellished bodice and cutouts at the waist. This minimal yet striking look gets our nod.

Malaika Arora Khan

Malaika spelled out some major drama in this gown on the final day of IIFA. A departure from her usual figure-hugging outfits. everything about the look, right from the Louboutin pumps to the sleek ponytail, is a win.

Kriti Sanon

Similar coloured ensembles are tricky to carry off, but we are totally loving this royal blue and sky blue gown. With the high ponytail and clutch, this was oh so classy.

So meh
Huma Qureshi

If an olive coloured jumpsuit wasn't enough to give the fashion police a fever, Huma also opted for this olive, black saree which does nothing to flatter her figure.

Neha Dhupia

The usually well-dressed actress turned out in a roughly wrapped ensemble reminiscent of a bed spread or table cloth. Her golden stilettos and red-carpet-ready confidence was on point though.

Sonakshi Sinha

Why Sona, why? Sheer is enjoying a moment on the fashion scene worldwide, but instead of accentuating the actress' frame, this dress does the opposite.

Aftab Shivdasani and Nin Dusanj

The clearly-in-love couple matched their outfits. But if they were hoping to recreate the positively stunning statement Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie made at the BAFTA last year, they went majorly amiss. The tacky velvet in that colour did nothing to salvage the look either.

Just in jest
>> The show hosts poked fun at Shahid Kapoor while introducing him. "Where is Emraan Hashmi?" they asked, adding: "He must not be visible as he played invisible man in Mr X. And our Shahid Kapoor is 'Mr Sab ka Ex'."

>> As Bipasha Basu arrived late for the event, Arjun asked, "Bipasha, why have you come 'Alone'? Why don't you bring any 'Creature' along with you?"

>> Arjun pulled Ranveer's leg by pointing at the latter's alleged girlfriend and said, "Woh dekh, Deepika". To which Ranveer casually replied saying he had been looking at her only. When Dippy received the 'Woman Of The Year' honour, Ranveer got down on his knees and sang "Ram Chahe Leela" from their 2013 film 'Ram Leela'.

>> The two hosts mocked Anurag Kashyap's 'Bombay Velvet', which was a box office debacle. "Ranbir should have been named 'Roti' in the film as his co-star Anushka Sharma was called Rosie. That makes them 'Rosie-Roti'. And they both snatched Anurag's Rosie-Roti (daily bread)."
