Deepika Padukone, who was in Jaipur yesterday to promote the first song of her upcoming period drama, 'Bajirao Mastani', flagged off an annual polo match played between two royal families. And when the actress expressed her wish to showcase it to princess Diya Kumari, special arrangements were made for the 'first-of-its-kind'preview in the City Palace.
Says a source, "Normally, the royal family organises screening of folk stories and hence, permission had to be taken to show the first song from Deepika's next. It was, perhaps, the first time that any film content was shown at the palace; 100-odd guests were in attendance. Post that, the actress sat down for a royal feast with the princess."
Since it was an impromptu invitation, the film crew, including director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and lead actor Ranveer could not make it to Jaipur. Bhansali and Ranveer are currently winding up the shoot in Bhor, Pune. "It was a sweet gesture on the princess' part to invite Deepika over for a special dinner. However, the rest of the cast and crew members could not partake of the feast as the invitation was unanticipated," adds another source. Deepika Padukone's spokesperson confirms the story.
