"The response indeed is brilliant. I must say it is a humbling experience for me. I am now very keen on making a sequel to the film. It is a fantastic subject," Subi told IANS on phone from Dubai.
The premiere at the 7th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards at Dubai, however, was a low-key affair.
"Not too many people were there... from Bollywood Vashu Bhagnani and David Dhawan attended the premiere," he said.
"Alag" revolves around an 18-year-old boy, portrayed by debutant Akshay Kapoor, who is endowed with unusual powers.
"The sequel is still in the story stage. But we will surely launch it in the next two-three months."
This is Subi's first film and he was very nervous. "I had butterflies in my stomach."
Subi roped in top-notch Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, Sushmita Sen and Priyanka Chopra for the theme song of the film.
When asked how he managed this, he said: "The film industry is like a family and when someone tries to do something new everybody comes together and encourages you."
He is also planning to direct a love story.
