Akshay has pledged all the proceeds from the album, shot near the Golden Temple in Amritsar, to the victims of the terror attacks on Mumbai trains this month, reports Bollywood Trade. Some 200 people were killed and around 800 injured in the train bombings.
"This video is dedicated to all those who lost their lives and to their families who still can't sleep. This is a wake up call for the entire nation. Let's put our hands together and pray for peace. Trust me, no religion preaches violence. So, spread the word, keep the faith," said Akshay.
Incidentally, Akshay has a huge fan following amongst Punjabis in India and abroad and had been thinking of singing a devotional song for quite some time.
"This album is close to my heart for obvious reasons. It was always at the back of my mind to sing a devotional song. This is a realisation of my heartfelt desire. I would like to dedicate this video to all those who lost their lives that fateful day," said Akshay.
Akshay will also star in the video shot by Ajay Kumar and Sanjukta.
The actor has been associated with causes close to his heart. Apart from being a Good Heart Ambassador, he is also the Brand Ambassador of Special Olympics.
Very few know that he donated the profits earned from the distribution of "Waqt - Race Against Time" in Mumbai territory to the Trillium Hospital in Toronto.
