The bubbly actress participated in a blood donation camp organised by the Rotary Club of Delhi in association with Godfrey Philips Bravery Awards and donated blood.
"Donating blood doesn't kill one but goes on to save somebody's life. Blood donation also creates a universal world," she said adding, "Once blood is donated it becomes universal and might be used by anyone in need, irrespective of community, caste or region. It binds people together."
The actress has been appointed new brand ambassador of Godfrey Philips Bravery Awards, which are conferred for bravery and selflessness every year.
Preity had herself won the award in the past for her valiant stand against the underworld. Defining bravery, she said: "Bravery is something when you fear and you overcome that fear."
Apart from blood donation camps, Preity will also lend her support to the cause of women empowerment for Godfrey Philips.
Supporting a social cause has become a routine for Bollywood stars these days and more so when there is a movie release round the corner.
Recently, Aamir Khan's support to the Narmada Bachao Andolan created a controversy just before the release of his film "Fanaa".
When a question was put to Preity in reference to the release of her upcoming film "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna" (KANK), the actress reiterated that she didn't need a movie release to do something good for the humanitarian cause.
She said: "I'm happy that KANK is releasing but it has got nothing to do with this cause."
