Aditya Dutt's 'Dil Diya Hai' was yesterday released amid the cine-world pantheon.

The film, stars Emraan Hashmi and Ashmit Patel as the male leads and debutant Geeta Basra, as the female lead. Aditya Dutt arrived in his directorial debut 'Ashiq Banaya Apne' along with the music director Himesh Reshammiya in the big league with the hit song 'Ashiq Banaya Aapne'.

Speaking on the occasion, the director said his main purpose of making this film was to entertain the audience the way 'Ashiq banaya Apne' did.

Speaking to presspersons, he said, "I don't want to give any messages through the film. My sole aim is to provide wholesome entertainment to the cinegoers so that he gets his money's worth."

"While Aashiq Banaya Aapne' was a romantic triangle, 'Dil Diya Hai' is a romantic drama. Moreover, unlike 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne', 'Dil Diya Hai' is based in the United Kingdom,"he added.

Dil Diya Hai is the story of Saahil (played by Emran Hashmi) who forced by unfortunate circumstances, betrays the woman that loves him. Later, he repents and wins back her love.

A 27-yr-old Saahil, runs a travel agency in the UK. His pecuniary affairs are in bad shape and his mother is suffering from multiple renal disorder. In making a fast buck Saahil doesn't mind duping his customers once in a while.

On one of his jobs, Saahil accompanies Neha (Geeta Basra), a beautiful, kind-hearted and simple girl on a sightseeing tour in London. The moments Neha and Saahil share together make them good friends. Soon she falls for him.

On a trip to Scotland with Neha, Saahil discovers that his mother's health has taken a turn for the worse and must undergo treatment immediately. Unable to arrange for the money, in desperation he decides to sell Neha to a pimp.

However, his conscience doesn't allow him even a moment of peace for having sold an innocent, unsuspecting and loving girl to a sex dealer. Besides repentance, he also begins to feel strong love for Neha in his heart.

Determined to make amends, Saahil decides to free Neha from the hell he sold her into and win her love back. Giving a rejoinder as to why he chose not to repeat Tanusree Dutta, the lead in 'Aashiq banaya Aapne', and chose a fresher instead, he said,"I cast Geeta in the film as she suited the character of Neha."

As for working with Emran again, he retorted, "I and Emran share an amazing understanding so much so that he instantly understands what I require him to do in a particular scene. Besides, he is a brilliant actor to work with."

Speaking on the occasion, newcomer Geeta Basra said, she had grown up on fantasies of Bollywood actresses and dancing-to-rain songs.

Though anxious about the public response to the film she rejoined "However, no matter what happens, I am here on a long stint. I want to make it very big as an actress."
