The actor, who flexed his vocal cords in the past for "Zinda", "Musafir", "Kaante", "Khoobsurat" and "Lage Raho Munna Bhai", was still a tad nervous, recalled music director Shamir Tandon.
"Sanju is very kind and sweet. He is a child at heart and has sung amazingly well. I'd rate him 100 upon 100. He sincerely sat and studied the song and lyrics. He is a strict disciplinarian and does his homework well. He has tremendous untapped potential and he can put a lot of singers to shame," Tandon was quoted as saying.
Sanjay has recorded a duet titled "Chahiye" and he did not charge any fee for it, he said.
"He truly has the three pre-requisites needed for singing namely base, rhythm and expression. He will be flooded with offers after this album releases. Even Ashaji endorses my viewpoint," said Tandon.
The other seven songs are also duets to be featured on people from different fields.
"The album consists of seven songs and will be sung by seven different people. 'Chahiye' has the yesteryears black and white feel. It kind of reminds you of the songs 'Haal kaisa hai janab' and 'Nakhrewali'," he added.
The singing nostalgia actually lives on since his father Sunil Dutt had also recorded a song with Bhosle 40 years ago.
Jackie Shroff will soon be recording for the other duet. The album is slated to go on air by first week of December.
