NCB Mumbai director Sameer Wankhede stated that 'Firoz Nadiadwala was summoned by the anti-drugs agency earlier in the day, but he did not appear.' He also added "On Saturday, we conducted a major strike in Western Mumbai and Navi Mumbai where we recovered ganja in commercial quantities, Mephedrone and other different drugs. We also intercepted five peddlers and based on that we conducted and recovered some drugs today morning from his house which was supposed to be part of the same seizure,".
His wife Shabana Saeed is arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and further investigation is still on. Officials said "Firoz Nadiadwala's wife Shabana Saeed was issued a notice under section 67 of the NDPS Act. She was arrested after her statement was recorded,"
Reportedly, the smuggling had been done by an accused who was identified as a dealer, Wahid Abdul Kadir Sheikh alias Sultan who was also arrested earlier.
The NCB had initially arrested four people as part of its crackdown on drug dealers and their clients linked to the Hindi film industry.
